All Schools in Irvine Will Begin the 2020-2021 School Year Online

Governor Newsom has ordered school districts in California counties with elevated coronavirus transmission and hospitalization rates to begin the academic year with distance learning. Schools must remain closed until their county has been off the State’s “watch list” for 14 days.

That means all schools in Orange County — including private and public schools here in Irvine — will begin the 2020-2021 school year online.

IUSD Says Irvine Schools Won’t Follow County’s “Back-to-School” Guidelines That Don’t Include Physical Distancing & Mask Mandates

On July 13th, the Orange County Board of Education voted 4-1 to approve back-to-school guidelines, without any mask or physical distancing mandates.

After the vote, IUSD released a statement, making it clear that the District is not governed by the OC Board of Education and that IUSD would not be following the Board’s recommendations for the 2020-21 school year.
