Stay-at-Home Order Forces Recall Campaign to End

The signature-gathering drive to recall two unelected members of the Irvine City Council was officially suspended over the Memorial Day weekend.  The all-volunteer effort, which attracted citywide support when it started earlier this year, was drastically slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meet Nithin Parthasarathy:  Northwood High School Student & Founder of the Zero Waste Initiative

Nithin Parthasarathy is a student at Irvine’s Northwood High School whose passion for sustainability and food equity led him to establishing the Zero Waste Initiative.

While eating at Bruegger’s Bagels here in Irvine, Nithin noticed workers throwing away surplus bagels that they couldn’t sell at the end of the day.  Realizing that a lot of shops throw surplus food away, Nithin decided to take action.
