They say that dance lives only in-the-moment. However, after watching UCI’s Dance Visions 2020 a few weeks ago at the Barclay Theatre and then speaking with Molly Lynch – the artistic director of the program – I’ve learned just how many moments are braided into a single dance performance.

Capturing magical moments in dance takes a professional dancer and a seasoned photographer.  I was lucky enough to meet an artist who is both: Skye Schmidt.

When Matthew Tresler was in elementary school, he joined a choral group.  Today, Matthew is Academic Chair of Music and Professor of Choral & Vocal Music at Irvine Valley College (IVC). Recently, I had the chance to sit down with Matthew.

“Not everyone will decide to call what I do music.”  Meet Edward Park.  He’s been teaching music theory and composition at Irvine Valley College (IVC) since 2016, and recently began teaching a course in music technology at Chapman University.

Over the past several years, the UCI Symphony Orchestra has delighted me with many exhilarating performances. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Maestro Dr. Stephen Tucker, the newly appointed Chair of the Music department at UCI. Spending an hour in a one-on-one discussion with him was a rare delight.
