In 2020, Mayoral candidate Farrah Khan made the Veterans Memorial Park a campaign issue, promising Irvine voters that she fully supported the voter-approved project at the Great Park.

In November, Irvine voters will have the final say as to whether they are ready to “move past” Khan and Kuo.

Independence Day, also called Fourth of July, is America’s annual celebration of nationhood. It’s a time to come together as Americans to honor our revolutionary history —  and our military — through parades, concerts filled with patriotic music, and awe-inspiring fireworks.

For many veterans and their families, the words spoken by public officials at Memorial Day ceremonies here in Irvine rang hollow.

Let me be blunt. Four members of the Irvine City Council continue to disrespect veterans and voters through their lack of interest in history — and their disregard for the law.
