UCI Students Rally To Protest Potential Abortion Ban

by

UCI students gathered Tuesday afternoon (May 10th) outside the Student Center to protest the potential Supreme Court reversal of the 1973 landmark Roe v Wade decision.

If Roe v Wade is overturned, abortion will become illegal in many parts of the country.

The Associated Students of UCI (ASUCI), Women’s Center for Success, and College Democrats of UCI helped to organize the rally, which included scores of student participants along with literature, signs, chants, and speakers.

The rally was held at the UCI Student Center Terrace, a busy area on campus. After the speeches, a large group of students walked through the UCI campus with their signs, continuing various chants.

A representative from Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties spoke about her experience as a UCI student and the importance of destigmatizing abortions. She also spoke about an upcoming County-wide rally Planned Parenthood is hosting on Saturday (May 14th) at Centennial Park in Santa Ana at 10am.
