The next phase of construction is now underway at the Great Park. Excavation and grading work will encompass approximately 210 acres in the area between Cadence and Great Park Boulevard.
According to City staff, construction work should not impact Great Park neighborhoods, motorists, or the use of the Great Park sports fields.
The amenities being built in the area referred to as the “Heart of the Park” will include: an Amphitheater; the Full Circle Farm (a fully operational farm to grow fresh produce for local food banks and host farm-to-table events); the Great Meadow (a large open green space); two lakes; and the Grand Promenade (a 2-mile pedestrian walkway through the park between Cadence and the Irvine Train Station).
Crews will be working Monday thru Friday from 7am until 3:30pm; and Saturday & Sunday from 9am until 3pm.
Another exciting addition coming to the Great Park is a new retail center set to open in 2026. Located at the corner of Bosque and Great Park Boulevard, The Canopy will feature 80,000 square feet of amenities — a grocery store, sit-down and fast-casual restaurants, and a host of retail shops.
The City also plans to retrofit the 12,000-square-foot Hangar 244 into a food hall, creating a seamless connection with The Canopy. The pathway linking Hangar 244 to The Canopy will feature a retail promenade, lined with restaurants and shops.
The Chair of the Great Park Board, Councilmember Mike Carroll and Vice Mayor Larry Agran — who serves as Vice Chair of the Great Park Board — have worked together to make sure these new projects move forward as quickly as possible. Both Carroll and Agran are focused on delivering retail options and restaurants to Great Park Neighborhood families who have long advocated for them. These new amenities will also attract more visitors to the Great Park … and more revenue to the City.
