How Irvine Residents Can Participate in City Council Meetings

by

The Irvine City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, typically convening in the afternoon and conducting City business well into the evening. Council meetings can be viewed on live TV through Cox Communications Local Access Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.  The meetings are also streamed live through ICTV.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the public is not allowed to physically attend City Council meetings.  However, residents can still express their opinions during the Public Comments portions of each Council meeting via Zoom (audio only) or by calling in.  For many people, the most comfortable way to take part in a Council meeting is to watch it on TV and then use a phone to call in to the meeting to speak.

If you call in to the meeting to voice your opinion, you will be required to enter the meeting ID and passcode (highlighted in yellow below).  If you are logging in to the meeting via a browser on your computer/tablet/smartphone, you may be prompted to enter the meeting ID and passcode — depending on how your system is configured for Zoom.

Meeting ID: 996 8137 2072
Passcode: 339772

HOW TO COMMENT VIA ZOOM (AUDIO)
To log in to the Council meeting via Zoom, click here.  During the Public Comments sections of the Council meeting, move your mouse until you see the Raise Hand icon and then click on it.  The City Clerk will call you by your screen name when it’s your turn to speak.  At that time, you will be asked to unmute your microphone (move your mouse until you see the unmute icon and then click on it).  After you speak, the City Clerk will mute you again.

HOW TO COMMENT VIA TELEPHONE
If you prefer to comment via phone, call (669) 900-6833 or (346) 248-7799.  During the Public Comments sections of the Council meeting, raise your hand by pressing *9.  When it is your turn to speak, the City Clerk will call the last 3 digits of your phone number.  To unmute (or mute) your phone when requested by the City Clerk, press *6.

If you wish to make a Public Comment about an issue that is not on the Council agenda, you will need to call in (or log in via Zoom) at around 6:30pm, which is when the Mayor typically calls for general/miscellaneous Public Comments.

NOTE: If you run into any problems calling in to the Council meeting or logging in to Zoom during the meeting, call (949) 724-6142 for technical assistance.
