Here is one of those feel-good stories we all love reading. In 2013, Irvine resident Kim Taylor rescued an adorable Siamese cat named Coco. Very quickly, the cat became a cherished member of the family.
In 2021, Kim’s daughter, Michelle took Coco with her to college at UC Santa Barbara. To surprise Kim for Mother’s Day, Michelle decided to bring Coco home for the weekend.
While driving down the 5 Freeway near Disneyland, Coco accidentally stepped on the window button of Michelle’s Mazda and flew out of the car. For the next few weeks, the family searched the area but never found their beloved Coco.
Last year, Kim and her husband moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Two weeks ago, the microchip company tracked Kim down to let her know that Coco had been found by a tourist in a Disney hotel very near the spot where she had been lost two years earlier. Hotel staff say that Coco had been living off bacon and eggs from the hotel’s buffet.
On July 8th, Kim’s daughters, Michelle and Sarah, were reunited with Coco. And, last weekend, Kim flew to Orange County to reconnect with Coco and welcome her back to the family.
Thanks to the microchip company, Disney hotel staff, the kindness of a Disney visitor, and the work of a local rescue organization, this story has a happy ending. Needless to say, Coco and her family are over the moon!
