The candidate field is set and the races are on for Irvine Mayor and for four City Council seats being elected by districts in the City for the first time.
With Labor Day being the traditional start of the political campaign season, lawn signs are popping up across Irvine, volunteers are going door-to-door, and mailboxes are being stuffed with campaign mailers as candidates are putting the pedal to the metal. Mail-in ballots will be sent out, beginning on October 7th, and Election Day itself will be November 5th. You can register to vote or change your voter registration information by clicking here.
This is the first election of Irvine Councilmembers by district instead of citywide, a change that was overwhelmingly approved by City voters in the March primary election earlier this year. To find out which district you are in, check this map.
Here are the seven candidates running for Irvine Mayor — elected by all Irvine voters — and 15 candidates running for City Council spread across four districts. Candidates are listed in the order they will appear on the ballot, and their names are linked to their ballot statements that will be included in voter information packets and are now posted on the City’s website.
