Habitat Restoration Project in Bommer Canyon

The City of Irvine has announced a major habitat restoration and wildfire prevention initiative in Bommer Canyon Preserve, funded by a $1 million grant from the California Natural Resources Agency secured with the support of Irvine’s State Assemblymember, Cottie Petrie-Norris.

In partnership with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy, the City is tackling one of the region’s growing wildfire challenges: the spread of invasive, non-native grasses.

By removing invasive vegetation and restoring native habitat, the project is helping reduce wildfire risk, slow the potential spread of fires, enhance ecological health, and strengthen protections for surrounding communities.

City officials have announced the launch of the Irvine Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center, a new 25,000-square-foot hub designed to accelerate innovation and generate high-paying jobs by bringing together entrepreneurs, startups, investors, business resource organizations, and strategic partners.

The Center offers office and laboratory workspace, along with access to resources and collaboration opportunities that help innovators launch, grow, and scale their businesses.

By creating a centralized hub for talent, capital, and business resources, the Center advances the City’s Economic Development Blueprint — a long-term strategy focused on fostering entrepreneurship, driving innovation, and creating high-wage jobs in Irvine.
