The Mayor’s Broken Promises
Last year, Farrah Khan campaigned for Mayor of Irvine, promising to bring transparency, ethics, and democratic values to City Hall. In just the first few months in office, she’s broken those promises.
Upon taking office, Khan implemented an anti-democratic rule to restrict members of the Council from adding any item to the agenda without first obtaining a second Councilmember’s signature. (The rule does not apply to Khan, as Mayor.)

Shanzeh Mansoor, 15, a sophomore at University High School, and her friend, Henah Durrani, 16, a junior at Portola High School, are offering their tutoring services to K-8 students as volunteers for Maribo Cares, a non-profit organization that serves cancer fighters and survivors.
Having both lost a family member to cancer, Shanzeh and Henah decided to honor the memory of their loved ones by helping tutor students while also helping to raise funds for Maribo Cares.

More than 2,500 Irvine residents have signed an online petition, demanding the City of Irvine address concerns raised by homeowners regarding the emissions from the All American Asphalt plant. Beyond the noxious odors, there is growing evidence of adverse health effects from the plant’s toxic emissions.
During the 2020 City Council election campaign, now-Mayor Farrah Khan and now-Councilmember Tammy Kim promised Irvine voters that, if elected, they would use the power of the City to help the homeowners. However, since being sworn in to office, Khan and Kim have failed to deliver on that campaign promise.
