Every 70 minutes, a pedestrian is killed in America; and every 8 minutes, someone walking is seriously injured. These aren’t just statistics — they represent our neighbors, friends, and family.
The staff at UCI’s Center for Trauma & Injury Prevention Research (CTIPR) understands that nobody knows your neighborhood streets like you do. You see the intersections where cars don’t slow down. You notice poorly lit corners. You can often identify problems before a tragedy occurs.
With support from the California Office of Traffic Safety, CTIPR has launched a new project for you to share your local insights and report pedestrian hazards in your neighborhood by filling out a short online form before they cause harm. The CTIPR team will then review your submission, conduct an initial investigation, and connect directly with City of Irvine officials to make sure the hazards you report are addressed.
