The UCI Men’s basketball team lost to UC San Diego in the Big West Tournament Championship on Saturday (March 15th), meaning they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the NCAA March Madness Tournament.
Instead, the team will be playing in the NIT (National Invitation Tournament) Postseason Tournament where they received the No. 1 seed as one of the best teams that didn’t qualify for the March Madness Tournament.
They will open play on Wednesday (March 19th) at 7pm vs the University of Northern Colorado. These tournament games are usually played on a neutral site, but this year all of the opening games will be played at the team’s home courts. That means the Anteaters will be hosting their NIT game at home at the Bren Events Center for the first time ever.
