Throughout April, UCI will battle other University of California institutions in the 2019 Cool Campus Challenge, a contest to see which location can do the most to reduce its carbon footprint and spread the word about the importance of going carbon neutral.
The Cool Campus Challenge is a friendly 4-week competition designed to educate and motivate the University of California campus community to take simple energy-saving, waste-reducing and sustainability-focused actions to lower their carbon footprint and help the UC system reach carbon neutrality by 2025.
Students, faculty and staff work as a team, earning points for actions they take throughout the month. The campus with the most points and greatest percent of participation at the end of the competition on April 26th will be crowned the Coolest UC Campus.
UCI won the first Cool Campus Challenge back in 2015.
