Mayor Agran Encourages Residents to Voice Their Opinions

by ICNV Staff

If you support or oppose something that is happening in Irvine — whether it’s the Mayor’s citywide tree-planting program, his solar rooftop and backup battery storage plan, the expansion of the free Irvine CONNECT shuttle service, the new 700-acre Gateway Preserve in North Irvine, the recently-established Irvine Public Library System, or any other matter you care about —  Mayor Larry Agran wants to hear from you!

Mayor Agran hosts a monthly get-together at City Hall (1 Civic Center Plaza) where he provides Irvine residents with the latest updates on City initiatives and projects, and participates in one-on-one discussions with community members.

Residents can also connect with the Mayor through his City website here. The website includes Mayor Agran’s voting record, links to City resources, and his office phone number and email address.

If you prefer sharing your opinion with the entire City Council, Mayor Agran encourages you to attend a Council meeting. The Irvine City Council usually meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, typically convening at 4pm and conducting City business well into the evening. The meetings take place at City Hall.

If you cannot attend in-person, Council meetings can be viewed on live TV through Cox Communications Local Access Channel 30. The meetings are also streamed live through ICTV.

Council agendas are linked on the City’s website here.

Residents can address the Council to express their opinions during the Public Comments periods of each Council meeting in-person or via Zoom (audio only). They can also call into the meeting. For many people, the most comfortable way to take part in a Council meeting is to watch it on TV and then use a phone to call in to the meeting to speak.

If you call in to the meeting during Public Comments, you will be required to enter the meeting ID and passcode (highlighted in yellow below). If you are logging in to the meeting via a browser on your computer/tablet/smartphone, you may be prompted to enter the meeting ID and passcode — depending on how your system is configured for Zoom.

Meeting ID: 848 4853 1263
Passcode: 272906

For more detailed instructions on how to submit an e-comment or voice your opinion during a Council meeting, visit the City’s website here.
