Last year, we spotlighted Irvine student Karina Jadhav when she won the 2023 Tiger Woods Junior Golf Invitational Tournament. (Karina was the youngest participant in the 13-15 girls’ division.)
Golf isn’t Karina’s only passion. She’s also focused on her studies at Pacific Academy High School and is deeply involved in the school’s Model United Nations (UN) program.
Last year, Karina traveled to the UN Headquarters in New York City where she competed against 2,700 students from more than 70 countries to win the “Award of Distinction” for her exceptional debate and diplomacy skills.
This year, Karina flew to India for a Model UN research project to study the country’s largest telecommunications company, Reliance Jio, and its role in India’s digital transformation — bringing 5G connectivity to the country’s entire 1.4 billion population. The project has attracted a host of global partners like Meta, Microsoft, and Google. The Managing Director of Reliance Jio, Pankaj Pawar, met with Karina to help with her research project — sharing invaluable insights into the scale of the telecommunication company’s endeavors.
Now that Karina is back home, she’s published a research paper that she is sharing with Irvine students — highlighting the role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) within emerging markets, underscoring how East-West collaboration is unlocking remarkable global business opportunities.
