Congratulations to University High School student Aryan Mukherjee for receiving the Congressional Gold Medal Award!
Aryan has been recognized for his 400+ hours of community service work — teaching chess at his local library; participating in environmental projects such as beach cleanups and tree seeding; and tutoring/co-directing online math meetings.
As a third-degree black belt in taekwondo, Aryan has volunteered as a taekwondo instructor to help teach kids new forms and techniques to improve their skills. He is also an Eagle scout.
Aryan serves as president of his school’s math modeling club and leads the science national honors society. His love for all things STEM-related led him to projects with other students — including testing additives to biodegrade polymers and mathematically modeling groundwater consumption in local counties.
In his free time, Aryan enjoys playing chess, swimming, and watching movies with his friends.
