Less than a year after launching the Irvine Cares Family Housing Assistance Program, the Orange County Business Council has recognized the City of Irvine and its partners — the Irvine Unified School District, the Irvine Company, and Jamboree Housing Corporation — for providing safe and stable housing for Irvine families experiencing housing instability.
The program was recently honored with the Business Council’s annual Public–Private Partnership Award.
The Irvine Cares Family Housing Assistance Program has already placed 71 Irvine residents, including 43 children, into stable housing. The program pairs rent assistance with case management to support long-term self-sufficiency. In addition to housing assistance, families in the program receive comprehensive supportive services to help ensure they can transition to market-rate housing within a two-year period. The housing unit is then returned to the City to assist another family in need.
“Irvine has always looked for innovative solutions to complex challenges,” said Mayor Larry Agran. “We are grateful to our partners in this effort — the Irvine Unified School District, the Irvine Company, and Jamboree Housing Corporation — for their collaboration and shared commitment to supporting local families. I look forward to our continued partnership as we help more Irvine residents build a path toward long-term stability.”
The program is funded through state and federal grants, and made possible through a strong public–private collaboration with the City’s partners.
