Six Irvine schools have been recognized as 2025 California Distinguished Schools, which is the state’s highest honor for schools.
Four Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) schools made the list: Bonita Canyon Elementary School; Eastshore Elementary School; Portola Springs Elementary School; and Plaza Vista School.
Another Irvine-based school, Orchard Hills Elementary School, which is part of the Tustin Unified School District (TUSD), made it onto the list.
The Irvine International Academy was also included.
California Distinguished Schools are selected based on key indicators tied to the California School Dashboard, which is the state’s primary school accountability and improvement tool. Indicators reflect test scores, suspension rates, conditions and school climate.
Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff at the five schools on this year’s list!
