On Friday (July 4th), the City is encouraging residents to celebrate Independence Day at Irvine’s free, family-friendly community event at the Great Park. The celebration will provide an opportunity for residents to connect with their Irvine neighbors while creating lasting memories with friends and family.
The City’s inaugural Fourth of July event will feature a community parade, live entertainment, hands-on activities, and dazzling nighttime drone and fireworks shows.
The celebration kicks off at 4pm with live music at Hangar 244, followed by a community parade at 5pm along the Great Park Historical Timeline. Families are invited to bike, roll, or scoot in the parade. Participants are encouraged to decorate their wheels for the parade — whether they are riding a bike, scooter, or skateboard, pushing a stroller, or pulling a wagon.
Throughout the day, families can enjoy lawn games such as bocce, jenga, tetris, and chess; participate in organized family challenges, including a water balloon toss and a hula hoop endurance test; and take part in exciting tournament play.
In addition to Carousel and Balloon rides, activities will include a bubble zone, inflatable obstacle courses at The Layover, craft tents, a cake walk, face painting, sand volleyball competitions, and more.
There will be a high-tech drone show choreographed to music beginning at 8:45pm followed by an aerial fireworks show starting at 9:45pm.
Food and drinks can be purchased at food trucks and local food booths throughout the day, as well as at The Layover.
Admission and parking are free. Let’s have great and safe Fourth of July!
