As Irvine continues to grow, so do the number of new eateries sprouting up around town.
Below are my picks for the best coffee shops in Irvine.
Roosevelt Coffee (670 Roosevelt)
Hours: Monday thru Friday from 8am until 5pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 8am until 3pm.
About: This modern cafe is tucked away in an office park near the Cypress Village Shopping Center, close to Jeffrey & the I-5 Freeway.
In addition to serving delicious coffee drinks, all of the pastries and market items are sourced from small local businesses. My favorites are the cappuccino and the ham & cheese croissant.
As an added bonus, there is plenty of parking.
The Mugs (4840 Irvine Boulevard)
Hours: Monday thru Saturday from 7am until 10pm, and Sunday from 8am until 8pm.
About: This small coffee shop is located in the Northwood Town Center, and offers plenty of indoor & outdoor seating. I recommend trying a flat white or matcha latte along with the cafe’s specialty croffle (a hybrid pastry that combines a croissant with a waffle). It’s delicious!
Febe Coffee (13955 Yale Avenue)
Hours: Open daily from 8am until 8pm.
About: This small locally-owned coffee shop is located in the Trabuco Plaza, off Yale and Trabuco, and specializes in Asian-inspired drinks. Try one of their specialty matcha drinks and the egg scramble sandwich.
Moongoat Coffee (5171 California Avenue)
Hours: Open daily from 6am until 6pm.
About: This popular Orange County coffee shop is located in the University Research Park near UCI. My favorite items are the iced Americano and the deluxe avocado toast.
Coffee Dose (7 Corporate Park)
Hours: Open daily from 7am until 4pm.
About: This hip coffee shop is popular with Irvine youth. They place catchy phrases on their cups and offer a wide a variety of fun drinks. My favorites are the Goldie latte and the chi chi breakfast burrito.
Blk Dot Coffee (924 Spectrum Center Drive)
Hours: Monday thru Thursday from 7am until 9pm, Friday from 7am until 10pm, Saturday from 8am until 10pm, and Sunday from 8am until 9pm.
About: This Vietnamese coffee shop is located at the Irvine Spectrum Center, near Target. Try their Vietnamese iced coffee. And if you are craving something decadent, I recommend the iced Neapolitan, which combines coffee with Neapolitan ice cream. It’s the perfect dessert drink!
Kit Coffee (2010 Main Street)
Hours: Monday thru Friday from 7:30am until 4pm. The cafe is closed on Saturday & Sunday.
About: This aesthetically pleasing modern coffee shop is located off Main & MacArthur, among office buildings. Try an oat milk latte & avocado toast or breakfast burrito. The cafe validates so be sure to park in the structure.
Tru Bru Organic Coffee (18400 Von Karman Avenue)
Hours: Monday thru Saturday from 7am until 4pm. The cafe is closed on Sunday.
About: Located in the Irvine Towers, off Von Karman & Michelson, this in-house coffee roasting company offers a wide variety of hot and iced coffee drinks as well as freshly-prepared food. My favorites are the vanilla chi latte & the French toast with the fruit bowl. If you get there early enough, try the organic acai bowl. (It typically sells out by noon.)
Press & Moka Coffeehouse (18881 Von Karman Avenue)
Hours: Monday thru Friday from 7:30am until 4pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 8am until 3pm.
About: This European-style coffee and crepes cafe is located near the airport. You can’t go wrong ordering the classic espresso along with the ham, egg, & cheese croissant. You won’t have any problem finding a place to sit as there are plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options.
