Local Community Members Support Second Harvest Food Bank

The Dawoodi Bohras, a global Muslim community committed to service and civic engagement, have joined Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County as a Corporate Impact Partner, combining financial support with volunteerism to address food insecurity across Orange County.

On August 8th, members of the local Dawoodi Bohra community volunteered at the Food Bank’s Harvest Solutions Farm, gathering 3,500 pounds of yellow squash, zucchini, and bell peppers for local families, seniors, and working individuals.

“Serving others and uplifting those in need — including addressing food insecurity — are key tenets of our faith,” said Yusuf Zakir, Community Outreach Lead for the Dawoodi Bohras of Orange County and Inland Empire. “Partnering with Second Harvest allows us to turn those values into meaningful local impact.”

Through Project Rise, the Dawoodi Bohra community supports initiatives focused on food security, sustainability, and reducing food waste.
