Students Publish Book to Help Kids with Allergies

by ICNV Staff

Left to right: Aayush Iyer and Max Ngo

Max Ngo has dealt with serious food allergies his whole life. Earlier this year, Max teamed up with his buddy Aayush Iyer to write and illustrate a book, Allergic to the Max, which is now available on Amazon and at Barnes & Noble bookstores.

In grade school, Max had trouble finding food allergy books that a young child could understand, so he decided to write one himself. The result is a simple-to-follow manual that lists each letter of the alphabet — offering tips, rhymes, and drawings to make food allergies easy for kids to understand.

The two Foothill High School students have received a six-month fellowship from the Irvine-based nonprofit Dragon Kim Foundation that has allowed them to share their book with local schools, libraries, and families across Southern California.

To learn more about the book and the work these two students are doing to educate young children about food allergies, follow them on Instagram here.
