Sabrina Pannier is an Irvine local who works as a freelance writer and covers IUSD activities and other human interest stories for Irvine Community News & Views. Born and raised in Irvine, Sabrina was an IUSD student herself before attending Orange Coast College and then UC San Diego, where she studied Linguistics and History.

Jim Phelps is a former power contractor and utility rate analyst. He operates photovoltaic (solar panel) systems at his home. Mr. Phelps served four years helping implement energy reporting legislation for the California Energy Commission, codified by the California Public Utilities Commission. Mr. Phelps is currently contributing to the Commission’s new Rulemaking for Power Source Disclosure Proposals on Hourly & Annual Accounting.

A native of Irvine, Kevin returned home with his wife in 2000. A retired physician and father of two, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and is an avid gym rat, an insatiable foodie, and a daydream believer with a penchant for photography.

Ed Pope served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. Ed was stationed in Germany during the height of the Berlin crisis, which led to the building of the Berlin Wall. Part of Ed’s military duties included teaching medical mobilization procedures to military personnel. His love of teaching continued after he left the service. Ed taught social studies for 35 years at Marina High School in Huntington Beach. He received the "Orange County Teacher of the Year" award in 1984. Ed lives with his wife, Toni, in the same Turtle Rock home he bought 50 years ago.

Sarah Mosko is a licensed psychologist, with a background in neurobiology and basic science research that enables her to explain the science behind current environmental problems and solutions. She received her Ph.D. at Princeton University, and held an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC San Diego.

Joel Smith is a homegrown Irvine athlete and Concordia University graduate who excelled in soccer and now coaches at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. He is also on staff with Irvine Community News & Views, writing his own weekly column "Smith's Picks" which is a favorite among our readers. Joel covers community interest stories in Irvine as well as local arts & entertainment.
