The 2024 Academy of Motion Picture Awards (The Oscars) will be held on Sunday, March 10th at 4pm at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. You can watch the broadcast live on ABC.

Prediction: Although The Holdovers was my favorite film of the year, Oppenheimer is the heavy favorite to win Best Picture.

Jeffrey Wright, American Fiction
Prediction: Cillian Murphy’s work as J. Robert Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer was incredible. He will surely take home the award for Best Actor.

Prediction: Emma Stone gave my favorite performance in this category, but Lily Gladstone is the favorite here. In the end, I think Lily Gladstone will take home the Oscar.

Prediction: Robert Downey Jr. is the favorite for Oppenheimer to add to the film’s anticipated awards haul.

Jodie Foster, Nyad
Da’Vine Joy Randolph, The Holdovers
Prediction: Da’Vine Joy Randolph is the odds-on favorite for her performance in The Holdovers and deservedly should take home the Oscar.
Best Director
Justine Tries, Anatomy of a Fall

Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer
Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things
Jonathan Glazer, The Zone of Interest
Prediction: This is quite the powerhouse category, but it looks like the favorite is Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer.
Other predictions: Oppenheimer may win yet again for Best Adapted Screenplay while The Holdovers should take home the award for Best Original Screenplay. The Japanese film The Boy and the Heron is the favorite for the Best Animated Film, and the UK’s Zone of Interest is expected to win the award for Best International Film.
