Later this year — December 28th to be precise — the City of Irvine will turn 50!  For five decades, families have been planting roots and raising their kids in our beautiful city.

Through visionary leadership, Irvine quickly became recognized as one of the best planned communities in the nation. Our City continues to attract families who want to live here because of our award-winning schools, high-tech job market, beautiful parks, and our safe neighborhoods.

The All American Asphalt Company operates a plant in north Irvine which generates foul odors that have created a public nuisance for many hundreds of homeowners.

Beyond the noxious odors, there are growing concerns about the adverse health effects from the plant’s emissions.

Hugga Loula is a just-published picture book for children 4-8 years old, but “is truly a picture book for everyone,” according to its author, Nancy Dearborn, who worked at Santiago Elementary School, in Irvine, from January through May 2018.

Her book’s character, Hugga Loula is a modern-day hero whose superpower is offering care, comfort and love to a world desperately in need of all three.
