The Great Park Championship Soccer Stadium has been home to the Orange County Soccer Club (OCSC) since 2017.
The United Soccer League team leases the 5,000-seat stadium from the City of Irvine. The current lease runs through 2028, with the possibility of a five-year extension. As part of the lease agreement, the club can install additional bleachers with City approval.
Each year, attendance at the OCSC matches has grown. In fact most of the matches were sold out last year. To accommodate the club’s growing fan base, the City approved plans to expand the stadium’s capacity. Construction is currently underway.
The project — which is being fully funded by OCSC at no cost to the City — will include a new private group seating area for corporate outings and community events, new reserved seating behind the goal, and additional seating near the scoreboard with direct access to the Fan Zone. There will also be a new VIP deck featuring food and beverage service, field views, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the iconic Great Park Balloon. In addition, there will be an expanded kids-only section, and an expansion of areas designed to support both families and the club’s dedicated fan base.
The project is targeted for completion in time for the OCSC home opener on March 7th when the team will take on the Las Vegas Lights. As an added bonus, the club hopes that teams competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup will practice at the renovated stadium.
