During the January 13th Irvine City Council meeting, the Council unanimously approved the City’s 2026-2028 Economic Development Blueprint.
The Blueprint prioritizes business retention and expansion; growth of Irvine’s venture capital and innovation ecosystem; workforce and talent-pipeline development; and enhancement of Irvine’s national and global competitiveness.
The Blueprint also lays the groundwork for the City to partner with the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce to establish an Irvine Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship. The new Center will serve as Irvine’s hub for startups and innovators by connecting entrepreneurs with investors, providing resources for early-stage companies, and making it easier to start and grow a business in Irvine.
We are at such a remarkable stage of our City’s development,” said Mayor Larry Agran. “This Blueprint and the Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship will strengthen Irvine’s position as a leading innovation hub, while driving long-term job creation and economic growth.
Last year, the City supported more than 300 businesses through a series of free workshops, small business clinics, capital and growth programs, and workforce services. The City also launched the Available Property and Community Analytics Dashboard, which is an interactive tool that combines commercial real estate listings with demographic, labor force, and consumer spending data.
To support informed business decisions, more than 15,000 customers participated in the City’s Community Development survey last summer, which helped identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce barriers for new and expanding businesses.
