Year: 2025
Construction Begins for Irvine’s First Municipal Gymnasium
Land that could have been approved for a massive warehouse will now become home to a new 110,000-square-foot recreational facility in the Irvine Business Complex (IBC), at 17300 Red Hill Avenue.
The Irvine Fieldhouse — scheduled to open to the public next year — will become Irvine’s first municipal gym. Designed to meet residents’ needs, the facility will be equipped for basketball, volleyball, and badminton, and serve as a hub for City-run programs, youth sports tournaments, and community events.
The Fieldhouse will include 10 multi-purpose courts, 10 badminton courts, a multipurpose room, a food court, and much more, as well as 369 parking spaces.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Larry Agran stated: “Together, we are building more than a gym. We are creating a space that brings our community together in meaningful ways, promotes health and well-being, and ensures we maintain an outstanding quality of life for residents.”
