Irvine’s Weekend Weather:  Cool but Mostly Clear Skies

This weekend’s forecast is for cool but mostly clear skies, with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.  There’s a chance for morning showers on Sunday, but the clouds should clear by early afternoon.

iPhone Tips by Jake Jacobs

Check flight status in Safari

Type both the airline and flight number — including the number sign — into a text field (example: US Airways #654).

After typing the airline and flight number, iOS  automatically recognizes the data format as an existing flight and creates an actionable link out of the text.

The same method works across the system, including iMessages, text messages from Messages, and email in Mail. The same functionality should also be available from emails containing itineraries from airlines.

Smith’s Picks by Joel Smith

Huntington Beach Dog Beach (100 Goldenwest Street, Huntington Beach)

If you have some free time over the long Memorial Day weekend, you may want to stop by the dog beach in Huntington Beach.  Although the Irvine Dog Park “Central Bark,” is terrific, I want to also spotlight this great dog beach a little outside of Irvine for those who want to let their pup enjoy some time in the water.

Huntington Dog Beach is open from sunrise to sunset each day.  There are several parking lots as well as street parking along Pacific Coast Highway.  Keep in mind there can be some heavy beach traffic on the weekend, so try to go earlier in the morning or in the late afternoon to avoid the crowds.
