I am taking this CultureCorner opportunity to offer a public service announcement that I hope will be of interest to many of our readers.  On Wednesday, February 22nd, you are invited to the Women For: Orange County open meeting — an 11am mid-day cultural event at Irvine’s iconic “Duck Club,” located along the San Diego Creek, at 15 Riparian View, Irvine. (Enter off of Campus Drive.)

Join us for two outstanding cultural presentations.  Andrew Tonkovich and Lisa Alvarez, both instructors at UCI, have written a first-of-its-kind anthology, ORANGE COUNTY:  A Literary Field Guide  — a literary review of the books and articles, and the authors who wrote them, managing to capture the essence and evolution of our Orange County culture.  (For a preview of what’s in store, read more about ORANGE COUNTY: A Literary Field Guide on page 6.)

In addition to Andrew Tonkovich, Irvine poet Mitsuye Yamada is a second featured speaker.  For more information about the February 22nd meeting, call 949-951-8140 or go to: WomenForOrangeCounty.org.
